We can work to PassivHaus standards
The Passivhaus Standard is the world’s leading quality assurance standard for low energy buildings. It requires careful planning and meticulous standards of workmanship.
JD Joinery and Building Services are the proud builders of the first bespoke Passivhaus home in the North East, Steel Farm. The high standards of energy efficiency mean the annual heating bill at Steel Farm is only £380 per year, as opposed to the average £1,250.
A Passivhaus certified scheme is a quality mark of excellent construction and design for low-energy living and JD Joinery and Building Services is the only construction firm in the North East to have built a privately owned home to Passivhaus standards.
This demonstrates the high level of skill and care we can bring to each and every project. Furthermore, because of our unique experience, our specialist knowledge can be used on other projects. We will embrace the same skills, care and commitment to each and every job, whether it be a Low Carbon design or a standard build.
We are very proud to have been involved with Little Elms, Gosforth. The development, features five-bedrooms, a two-bedroom annexe, a private cinema and a bar. The ultramodern Little Elms is super-insulated, draftproof and recovers heat using a ventilation system. Heated by using energy generated from the sun, body heat and a little natural gas this makes it one of the most eco-friendly houses in the North East.
