Moorlands lodge is located in a conservation area in the leafy suburb of Gosforth, Newcastle. The client saw potential in the original stone lodge to create a modern and characterful extension with a modern aesthetic. The extension was to juxtapose the original features of the stone lodge to create a contemporary living area and provides a large cooking, eating and entertaining space along with an additional bedroom. The extension has created a unique addition to the local area in style and architectural design.
JD Joinery and Building Services were engaged to construct the extension to the rear of the stone building. The extension forms a large structure with a pitch roof and chimney influenced by the shape and context of the original building.
The client is thrilled with the new addition to the their home and the additional space they now have. They commented:
“Working with JD Joinery & Building Services has been a really good experience. Working closely with our architect, Joe and the team fully understood what was required, the timescales involved and the likely constraints.
“We found JD Joinery very positive right from the outset of our project even though it involved a problematic full refurbishment of a 19th century lodge house and an additional complicated new build construction. Joe Dixon worked closely and patiently with us prior to work commencing providing us with a number of options to ensure we were able to achieve the desired finish within a tight budget.
“There were many challenging aspects from commencement to completion, however JD Joinery met each challenge head-on and successfully completed our requirements to the quality we expected. They were extremely responsive to our questions and the changes / additions that we wanted to make along the way.
“They were professional and enthusiastic at all times during the construction, wholly reliable and provided excellent advice to us throughout this time.
“JD Joinery & Building Services provide a first class friendly service that we would highly recommend to anyone.
“Working with them has been easy – suffice to say, we LOVE our new home.”
